Benoit First Nation representatives attended a meeting of
tourism stakeholders and operators in the tourism industry. We felt that our
presence was necessary because even though we do not directly seek to attract
tourism by our existence and by our activities, we indirectly do
attract tourists.
It was felt that our involvement in the process will help
bring Mi’kmaq concerns and priorities to the process.
Mark Felix with the Department of Innovation, Trade and
Rural Development was
facilitator. Cyril Organ,
Chairperson of the Community Development Committee (Plan B) also participated
in the meeting along with owners of various tourism operations throughout
economic zones 9 and 10.
