Sabastine Benoit

Note: Benoit's Cove in the Bay of Islands, according to Mrs. Patrick Doucette, born about 1870 and a resident of Benoit's Cove, was named after Sabastian Benoit. This information was passed on the Mrgr. R. T. White about 1960. At the time Mrs. Doucette was over 90 years old.

WEBMASTER NOTE: According to family folklore, I understood that Benoit's Cove was named after Sabastine Benoit's brother, Raphiel. He may have also lived in the area, or this may just have been a mistake. It seems that there other references to Sabastien and not Raphiel. I welcome any additional information that may colaborate or repute this.
