Chief Warrant Officer Maurice Chaisson

Youth Delegate
Royal Newfoundland Regiment Cadet Corps
Mainland, Newfoundland

Born in Stephenville, Newfoundland on April 9, 1980, Maurice and his family (parents, Wilson and Sylvia, and one sister) now live in Lourdes. He attends school in Mainland, about 40 kilometres away, where he is in Grade 12 at École Ste-Anne. Active in sports, he runs and lifts weights, and coaches younger children. He describes himself also as "very involved with cadets...likes helping others in any way possible".

Both of Maurice's great-grandfathers, Joseph LeMoine and Narcisse Chaisson, served during the First World War and his grandfather, Stephen D. Russell served in the Second World War.

Recommended by Maritime Command Headquarters (DED St. John's) as a delegate on the 80th anniversary pilgrimage, Maurice is hoping the trip will better his education by teaching him more about Canadian military history. He wants to pursue a career in the Canadian Armed Forces upon completing his schooling.
