March 16, 2006 Education Round Table Workshop

Chief Jasen Benwah attended an education round table workshop held on Thurday, March 18, 2006 at the Knights of Columbus Building. The workshop sponsored by the Community Education Network was an opportunity for delegates to bring their concerns and priorities to the small group discussions that took place.

The objectives of the day included:

The three strategic directions included:

  1. Prevention & Early Intervention
  2. Youth Initiatives
  3. Career Development and Employment

Some of the questions looked at included:

Hosted by the Community Education Network's Beverly Kirby and facilitated by Mark Felix of Industry, Trade and Innovation, priorities were set and a direction was mapped for the future.

The workshop was very productive and Chief Benwah was honoured to be able to be given a chance to add the Mi'kmaq perspective, concerns and priorities to the discussions.
