Youth Teachings Day on November 25, 2006

Hi Everyone,

As the Aboriginal Youth Coordinator for the Bay St. George area, I would like to take the opportunity to invite all Mi’kmaq youth and parents to attend a youth teachings day on November 25, 2006 at the Indian Head First Nations band office. This cultural day will take place in the W.E. Cormack building, in Stephenville.

The day will begin with a traditional opening, including singing and drumming led by the Rainbow Thunderbird Women. In addition, throughout the day there will be various presenters giving teachings on: powwows, traditional medicines, drumming, and the environment. There will also be a presentation by an aboriginal artist.

Please pass this invitation along to all of your members. Everyone is welcome! This gathering is a great opportunity to gather all of the Mi’kamq youth in the Bay St. George area in order for them to gain an insight into their culture.

This day is made possible through volunteers in the Bay St. George area, as well as, donations made by band councils in the area. A special thanks again to all those who have made donations.

If you would like further information on the cultural day we are planning, please do not hesitate to contact me at 643-6711 or at youth.services@nf.aibn.com.

Wela’lin,

Sarah Nash

Aboriginal Youth Coordinator
